I would've thought you do what you can to get Howe in. They won't though, it'll be a company man.

Then when Soutghate fails in 2/3 years time Mourinho will take over.

Mark my words...........

You reckon the FA might look at someone like BILIC?

The English candidates are not good enough.

Re: Roy hodgson
They've made no secret of the fact they see Southgate as a long term successor to Hodgson and the fact we just won the Toulon tournament will make him even more of a certainty.

Shame Howe is so young, guess we'll have him in charge in 15 years time!

I don't see why Southgate is next in line, it wasnt true for Pearce when he was in charge of the 21s.

Sad but have to agree, Roy will go, we will get all the bollocks of having a look at why things went wrong, making changes, a new start, investing in youth, promoting talent blah blah blah, then appoint and "Yes" man who wont be controversial and keep the FA happy.

Southgate though, FFS, what has he achieved as a manager, remember him at Boro, they were dog shit and got relegated, what pedegree is that? but hold on he is well in with the FA and those that run it, so wont suprise me in the least.

Re: Roy hodgson
another YES man for the FA if Southgate gets it!

Still surprised that Neville is in the England camp given how outspoken he can be at times..

More I think about it, I think Neville's the only credible candidate out there. Knows the set up very well, and would be able to easily identify what to change too. I think international as opposed to club football would suit him much better.

Absolutely nailed on that Southgate will get it.

Re: Roy hodgson
Downside is that we go out of the tournament, the upside is a new manager with hopefully fresh ideas. Who is out there though ? Seen some articles saying Southgate is being linked for the job.. scary.

Neville wouldn't be the worse choice in my opinion..I think he'd be more progressive. Hodgson needs to go, either way.

Re: Roy hodgson
I wouldn't target lallana as an issue so far. Hes actually worked hard and been pretty good. Sterling Kane wilshere Milner and hart have been the dodgy ones when they've played.

Really the main issues I have are still the same - too many out of form and unfit players again. Exactly the opposite of what woy said he would do, when he said we wouldn't take unfit players to tournaments and would pick form players

So he takes two really unfit players in wilshere and Henderson (ignoring noble and drink water in the process) takes out of form sterling stones and adds Barkley who clearly won't play and then chucks Milner in for good measure even though he offers nothing all those other players don't anyway.

He then ignores a bunch of different form players from the league, takes three identical strikers who offer nothing but like for like replacement (although two can play out wide, but then if that's the case then taken some bloody wingers if you want width) and then plays a forward in midfield even though there's already 6 other central midfielders in the squad.

Nonsense

Re: Roy hodgson
Slovakia and Russia vs Wales & England are two totally different things.

Rightly so, both teams fancy 3 points from Wales, so they actually go out with some intent. This allowed Wales some space to exploit, and fairness to them they did.

However both Russia, Slovakia and even Wales had no intention of going for the win against England. We basically spent the entire 90 minutes in each game trying to play through 11 men camped in one half. And we failed on two occasions.

Against the better teams we will have more space to exploit, as they will attack us more. I fully expect our better performances to come against the better sides (if we can get past the next game).

However, I have no idea why we are resting players when we are far from safe. We were very close to coming 3rd in the group last night thanks to a misjudgment from Smalling that almost cost us.

Very risky tactics from Hodgson. But with his job almost certain for another few years, I'm not sure he's too bothered.

Re: Roy hodgson
Summed it up for me last night when Henderson had the ball just over the halfway line with seconds to go and instead of getting it in the area he checked back and passed to Cahill and the ref blew for full time. Clueless.

so who do we want to replace Woy?? apart from Slav i mean..........

Villas-Boas is out of work at the mo...........

Re: Roy hodgson
Wales despatched Slovakia easily.

England with all their millionaire prima donnas got a 0-0 draw and could easily have lost the game when Smalling chested the ball into the Slovakian striker's path.

Two draws and a win in an easy group. Ireland got Belgium and Italy in their group, which shows how lucky we were.

As always England suffers from poor squad selection (how Woy could have done with Andy Carroll in the last ten minutes of last night's game), no proper system, players out of position, players on the pitch who aren't match fit, low motivation and a host of other elemental issues that no other squad has to tolerate.

The sooner they are put out of their misery and fly home the better.

Actually thought Lallana was okay last night.

Problem is the whole squad is too similar, so hard to change things up.

best comment

Henderson is not voting in the referendum as he can't get a cross in the box.

Hodgson is a fucking idiot, took the wrong players, played the wrong players last night and talks complete shit after inept performances

Grumpster 12:13 Tue Jun 21
Re: Roy hodgson
Thought it fair that the yids went, my issues pretty much all lay with the scousers (Milner, Lallana and Henderson) and the ex scouser Sterling.

Someone who had a shit season and the other 3 in a team that struggled to come 8th and who have always failed to perform for England.

Oh well, until we get a manager who can see the obvious and picks on form and not because of who they play for, we'll just have to put up with average crap.
